The Reef Octopus OCT-WC100 is a 4in waste collection container for protein skimmers that combines three functions in one unit: high-volume skimmate collection, passive odor control, and active overflow protection. It holds up to 1400ml (49oz) of skimmate, reducing how often the collection cup needs to be emptied. A removable carbon filter housing controls the smell of collected skimmate and lifts out easily for quick carbon exchanges. A built-in overflow safety switch monitors the container level and cuts power to the skimmer before a spill can occur.
The integrated delay timer adds a second layer of protection for power outage scenarios. When power is restored after an outage, sump water levels may have shifted enough to cause the skimmer to overflow on startup. The timer holds power to the skimmer outlet for 5 minutes after power is reconnected, giving water levels time to normalize before the skimmer runs again. A green LED confirms power is available on the timer output; a red LED indicates the timer is holding.
Drain tubing is sold separately. An optional drain hose is available by the foot, sold separately.

Pro Tips:
- Size the drain tubing before ordering. The OCT-WC100 uses 15/32in drain tubing (available separately on the related products section of this page). Confirm you have the correct tubing size and enough length for your installation before setting up the unit.
- Replace the carbon regularly. The carbon filter controls odor passively, but skimmate is corrosive and the carbon will saturate over time. Checking and replacing the carbon on a regular schedule keeps odor suppression working and prevents buildup inside the housing.
- Test the delay timer after any power event. After an outage or intentional power cycle, confirm the green LED comes on after the 5-minute delay before assuming the skimmer is running. If the red LED stays on longer than expected, check the fuse (F3/L250V) before troubleshooting further.

This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
Instructions:
- Position the OCT-WC100 at or below the level of your skimmer's drain outlet. The drain line connection is located 12.25in from the base — account for this height when planning placement.
- Connect the drain tubing (15/32in, sold separately) from your skimmer's collection cup drain port to the inlet on the waste collector.
- Plug your skimmer's power cord into the outlet on the OCT-WC100 rather than directly into the wall or power strip. This allows the overflow safety switch to cut power to the skimmer when the container reaches capacity.
- Plug the OCT-WC100 power cord into a grounded outlet.
- Confirm the green LED is lit, indicating the delay timer has completed its 5-minute hold and power is available to the skimmer outlet. Do not run the skimmer during the red LED delay period.
- Load the carbon filter cup with carbon and seat it in the vented housing. The housing is removable for quick carbon exchanges without disassembling the unit.
- Monitor the waste container level regularly. When the container approaches capacity, empty it before the overflow safety switch activates and shuts off your skimmer.
- After any power outage or intentional power cycle, allow the 5-minute delay timer to complete before confirming the skimmer has restarted.
- To replace carbon, lift the vented carbon housing out of the unit, swap the carbon, and reseat the housing.
