    • Maximize water velocity and reduce pump backpressure in your filtration system.
    • 45° angle provides a significantly smoother transition for water flow than standard 90° bends
    • Specifically sized for 32mm metric PVC pipe (approx. 1.25" OD), a standard for larger Reef Octopus outlets
    • Industrial-grade, thick-walled grey PVC construction ensures long-term durability in saltwater
    • Deep-socket slip connections provide maximum surface area for a leak-proof solvent weld
    • Ideal For: Large skimmer discharge lines; high-flow returns; custom 32mm metric manifolds

    32mm Metric 45° Elbow Fitting

The 32mm Metric 45° Elbow is a heavy-duty plumbing component engineered for high-volume water management in professional reef and aquaculture systems. This fitting is sized specifically for 32mm Metric PVC pipe, which is the most common diameter used for the discharge and recirculating plumbing on Reef Octopus "INT" and "EXT" skimmers with 6-inch to 8-inch bodies.

In high-performance aquarium design, 45-degree elbows are used to mitigate "head loss"—the resistance created when water hits a sharp turn. By utilizing a more gradual 45-degree direction change, you preserve the kinetic energy of your flow, resulting in more efficient skimming and a quieter sump environment. Crafted from high-impact, saltwater-safe grey PVC, this elbow features a precision-molded internal bore that minimizes detritus trap and air pocket formation.

    Key Features

    • Accurate Metric Diameter: Fits 32mm OD metric pipe—essential for maintaining Reef Octopus factory plumbing.
    • Efficiency-Focused Geometry: 45° bend lowers turbulence compared to right-angle fittings, preserving pump life.
    • Commercial Grade Materials: Heavy-walled PVC designed for high-pressure applications and resistance to cabinet humidity.
    • Saltwater Safe: 100% non-toxic and won't leach chemicals, making it safe for delicate reef inhabitants.
    • Socket Style Connection: Slip x Slip design compatible with standard PVC primer and solvent cement.

    Ideal For

    • Skimmer Plumbing Customization: Modifying the output of large Reef Octopus skimmers to reduce splashing or bubbles.
    • High-Volume Return Lines: Routing flow for aquariums 150 gallons and larger.
    • Centralized Filtration Systems: Creating professional-grade manifolds for multi-tank life support systems.

    What’s Included: • (1) 32mm Metric 45° Elbow Fitting

    Specifications:
    • Size: 32mm
    • Angle: 45 Degrees
    • Connection Type: Slip x Slip (Socket)
    • Material: High-quality Grey PVC
    • Compatibility: 32mm Metric Pipe ONLY

    • Ensure the 32mm metric pipe is cut square and use a deburring tool to smooth the inner and outer edges.
    • Dry-fit the pipe into the elbow to check for proper alignment within your plumbing run.
    • Apply a coat of PVC primer to the pipe end and the inside of the elbow socket.
    • Apply a liberal amount of PVC solvent cement to both surfaces.
    • Insert the pipe into the fitting and give it a slight quarter-turn to ensure a full, even seal.
    • Hold for 30 seconds. Wait at least 1 hour before introducing water pressure to the joint.

    Pro Tips
    Confirm your Pipe Size.
A 32mm metric fitting is not the same as 1-inch or 1.25-inch USA standard Schedule 40 pipe. 32mm is approximately 1.26 inches. If you are plumbing a Reef Octopus skimmer, metric is almost certainly the required standard.

Create a "Long Sweep." To maximize flow and minimize noise, use two 32mm 45° elbows with a small section of pipe between them instead of a single 90° elbow. This creates a gentle curve that allows water to move effortlessly, drastically reducing the "rushing water" sound.

Use Clear Primer. For a professional, high-end look on your under-tank plumbing, use clear PVC primer rather than purple. This keeps the grey 32mm fittings looking clean and "industrial" without messy purple stains.
