Spirulina Flake Food for Red, Blue, and Yellow Color Enhancement
The Dymax Spirulina Advance Flakes (20g) is a spirulina-first flake food designed for a broad range of freshwater and marine fish, with a specific color enhancement target across red, blue, and yellow pigmentation. Most prepared fish foods offer general color support; this formula names the three primary color channels that hobbyists are actively managing in species like discus, cichlids, bettas, tangs, and angelfish, and builds the ingredient stack around them. Spirulina leads the ingredient list, followed by fish meal, krill meal, mussel meal, seaweed, algae, and astaxanthin, each contributing to the color, health, and palatability outcomes the formula is designed to produce.
The 20g container is the smallest available size in the Spirulina Advance Flakes range. It is the right choice for nano and desktop tanks where a larger container would sit open long enough to lose freshness, or for hobbyists building a multi-food rotation who want a small portion of each formula rather than committing to a full-size container. Garlic extract is included to encourage feeding responses from recently acquired or selective fish. No artificial colors, preservatives, or harmful additives are used.
Key Features:
- Spirulina-first formula with flake format for freshwater and marine fish
- Targets red, blue, and yellow color enhancement across a wide range of fish species
- 40% protein from fish meal, krill meal, and mussel meal supports growth and muscle development
- Astaxanthin provides natural carotenoid-based color support alongside spirulina
- Garlic extract added to encourage acceptance from selective or recently imported fish
- Seaweed and algae included to cover plant-based dietary needs alongside marine protein
- β-Glucan supports immune system function; Bacillus Subtilis supports digestive health and waste reduction
- Easily digestible formula reduces waste and minimizes water quality impact
- No artificial colors, preservatives, or harmful additives; strict quality control
- 20g / 180ml container sized for nano tanks and rotation feeding programs
Ideal For:
- Nano and desktop tanks of 10 gallons or less where flake food needs to stay fresh through a single small container before the next purchase
- Freshwater hobbyists keeping color-forward species like bettas, discus, or cichlids who want to trial a spirulina flake alongside other food types
- Marine reef keepers who already use the Dymax pellet range and want a small amount of spirulina flake to rotate in for variety and herbivore coverage
Pro Tips:
- Crush the flake slightly between your fingers before dropping it into smaller tanks. A full-size flake can be too large for nano fish or newly acquired juveniles. Breaking the flake down to half its size before feeding makes it accessible to smaller mouths without buying a different product.
- Introduce flake slowly when switching from pellets. Fish conditioned to a pellet diet can take a few feedings to recognize and accept a flake. Offering a pinch alongside the usual pellet for the first week and gradually replacing it works better than a direct switch.
- The 20g container should last several weeks at correct portions. Flake food is extremely light relative to its volume. A small pinch fed once or twice daily to a nano tank is the right amount — if the container empties in under two weeks, portions are likely too large.

Technical Analysis:
While most of our equipment carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty, consumable products like fish and coral foods are not covered under traditional warranty terms due to their perishable nature and varied storage conditions. However, we fully stand behind the quality of every product we sell. If you experience any issues with your food purchase shortly after receiving it, such as concerns about freshness, packaging integrity, or product quality, please contact us at [email protected]. We're committed to making it right and will work with you to resolve any problems quickly and fairly.
Instructions:
- Feed two to three times daily in small amounts. Only offer what fish will consume within two to three minutes.
- For nano fish or juveniles, crush the flake lightly between fingers before adding to reduce flake size.
- Drop flakes directly onto the water surface. The flakes will float initially and sink slowly as they absorb water, serving both surface and mid-column feeders.
- Remove any uneaten flake after three minutes using a fine net to prevent decomposition and water quality impact.
- Store the container sealed tightly in a cool, dry location away from direct light and humidity.
