IceCap Black 1/4in PE Reverse Osmosis Tubing (SKU: IP-RI-RT01BK) is official NSF-grade polyethylene tubing engineered specifically for aquatic filtration, freshwater top-off delivery, and reactor plumbing.
Standard clear or translucent poly tubing allows ambient room or under-cabinet aquarium lighting to penetrate the hose walls. Over time, this light exposure causes micro-algae and bacterial film to bloom inside the tubing, restricting water flow and fouling pure RO/DI water. The opaque black formulation of IP-RI-RT01BK blocks 100% of light transmission, keeping your water transfer lines completely sterile and free of organic buildup.

Cutting & Set-Up Guidelines:
Measure the exact distance needed between your water source, RO system, solenoid, or aquarium sump.
Cut the IP-RI-RT01BK tubing squarely at a strict 90-degree angle using a dedicated razor tubing cutter (avoid scissors to prevent oval distortion).
Inspect the cut end to ensure the outer wall is smooth, clean, and free of burrs or jagged plastic edges.
Push the tubing end firmly into your 1/4" quick-connect push fitting until it seats against the internal O-ring (~5/8" insertion depth).
Pull back lightly on the tubing to confirm the collet teeth have locked the line securely in place.
Pro Tips:
- Always Use a Dedicated Hose Cutter. Never cut polyethylene RO tubing with standard scissors or wire cutters. Pinching the tubing deforms the circular outer wall into an oval shape, preventing a complete seal inside push-connect O-rings and causing slow, persistent drips.
- Use Locking Clips on Quick Fittings. After inserting the black PE tubing into push-connect fittings or solenoid valves, slide a blue 1/4" locking clip under the fitting collet. This locks the collet in the forward position, preventing accidental tube release under pressure spikes.
